The Care Certificate is the recognised induction framework for people starting work in social care. This single course covers all sixteen standards, giving new care workers a thorough grounding and existing staff a structured refresher.

- Understanding your role, personal development and duty of care
- Equality and diversity, working in a person-centred way and communication
- Privacy and dignity, fluids and nutrition
- Awareness of mental health, dementia and learning disability
- Safeguarding adults and safeguarding children
- Basic life support and health and safety
- Handling information and infection prevention and control
Who it is for
New starters in residential care, nursing homes, hospices, home care and community settings, and existing care staff who need a documented induction record.
Course details
- Duration: approximately 5 hours (can be completed over several sessions)
- Format: online, self-paced, with an end-of-course test
- Certificate: issued on completion and available to download from your training account

The Care Certificate is an English framework developed by Skills for Care and Skills for Health. It is widely used as an induction standard by Irish providers, but check your own regulator's requirements.
